This Warranty Policy outlines what is and isn’t covered when you purchase a shipping container from Mega Containers USA. Because we sell both new and used containers across a range of conditions and grades, coverage varies by product type as described below. Please review this policy before purchasing.
1. Warranty by Container Type
New / One-Trip Containers
New and one-trip containers are covered by a limited structural warranty of 5 years from the date of delivery, covering defects in structural integrity — including the frame, corner castings, and roof/wall panel seams — under normal use and storage conditions.
Cargo Worthy (CW) Containers
Used containers sold as Cargo Worthy are covered by a 1-year limited warranty against structural failure and water leaks, provided the container has passed CSC (Convention for Safe Containers) inspection at time of sale.
Wind and Water Tight (WWT) Containers
WWT-grade containers are covered by a 90-day limited warranty specifically against water leaks through the roof, walls, or floor seams under normal stationary use.
As-Is Containers
Containers sold “As-Is” are not covered by any warranty. These units are sold based on their condition at time of sale, and buyers are encouraged to inspect photos and specifications carefully, or request additional documentation, before purchasing.
2. What Is Covered
- Structural defects affecting the frame, corner castings, or load-bearing components
- Water intrusion through roof, wall, or floor seams (for eligible grades, per Section 1)
- Door hardware and seal failures present at time of delivery and not caused by misuse
3. What Is Not Covered
This warranty does not cover:
- Cosmetic issues such as surface rust, scratches, dents, or prior signage/branding, consistent with the container’s listed grade
- Damage caused by improper site preparation, uneven ground, or ground shifting after placement
- Damage resulting from modifications, alterations, or repairs performed by anyone other than Mega Containers USA or an authorized technician
- Damage caused by misuse, overloading, extreme weather events, fire, vandalism, or accidents after delivery
- Normal wear and tear over time
- Containers used for purposes beyond their rated capacity or intended use (e.g., using a storage-grade container for cargo shipping)
- Any container sold “As-Is,” as noted in Section 1
4. Custom-Modified Containers
Containers that have been modified (e.g., doors, windows, insulation, electrical, paint) are covered by this warranty only for the original structural container components. Modifications and workmanship on custom features are covered separately — ask us about specific coverage terms for your custom order at time of purchase.
5. How to Make a Warranty Claim
To submit a warranty claim:
- Contact us with your order number, delivery date, and a description of the issue
- Provide clear photos (and video, if helpful) showing the defect
- Allow our team to review the claim — we may request additional information or, where feasible, an in-person or virtual inspection
If a claim is approved, we will, at our discretion, repair the container, replace the affected unit, or provide a partial refund reflecting the issue. Approved repairs may be performed on-site or may require the container to be transported to a service location, in which case related freight costs will be discussed with you in advance.
6. Warranty Limitations
- This warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is non-transferable unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Warranty coverage begins on the date of delivery and acceptance, not the date of order.
- Claims must be submitted within the applicable warranty period stated in Section 1. Claims submitted after the coverage period has ended will not be eligible for repair, replacement, or refund under this policy.
- This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied, except where such exclusion is not permitted by law.
